Acupuncture for pregnancy and postnatal support

Pregnancy and the months after birth can bring significant physical and emotional change.

Whether you’re looking for support with nausea, fatigue, sleep, aches and pains, preparation for labour or recovery after birth, treatment is adapted carefully to your stage and needs.

What may be bringing you here

Navigating physical change

Pregnancy can bring shifts in sleep, energy, digestion and physical comfort as your body adapts.

Preparing for birth and recovery

As labour approaches, many people look for support that helps them feel calmer, steadier and more supported physically.

Adjusting after birth

Postnatal recovery can affect energy, emotions, hormones and overall wellbeing in ways that are often underestimated.

Care that adapts to each stage

Your needs may change throughout pregnancy and after birth.

Early pregnancy may bring nausea and tiredness. Later pregnancy may bring discomfort, sleep disruption or preparation for labour. After birth, you may need support with recovery, energy and emotional adjustment.

What a treatment plan may look like

Your first appointment

Your first session includes a detailed consultation exploring your pregnancy, symptoms, medical history and overall wellbeing, helping shape treatment around what you need at that stage.

Safe, supportive treatment

Saskia is trained in acupuncture for pregnancy, using carefully selected points appropriate for each stage of pregnancy, with comfort and safety always prioritised.

Trimester-specific support

Different stages of pregnancy often bring different physical and emotional needs, from nausea and fatigue early on to discomfort, sleep disruption and preparation for labour later in pregnancy.

Labour preparation acupuncture

From around 36 weeks, regular treatments may help support relaxation, physical readiness and preparation for birth.

Postnatal recovery support

Treatment can also support recovery after birth, including energy, hormonal adjustment, emotional wellbeing and recovery from physical exhaustion. Babies are welcome at postnatal appointments with advance notice.

Ongoing care if needed

Some people come for occasional support during pregnancy, while others choose more regular treatment throughout pregnancy and into the postnatal period.

Labour preparation

In the later stages of pregnancy, acupuncture is often used to support the body as it prepares for labour.

Treatment is gentle and paced around how you are feeling physically and emotionally.

Postnatal recovery

The postnatal period can be demanding, especially when recovery, sleep, feeding, hormonal change and emotional adjustment are all happening at once.

Acupuncture can offer a calm space to support energy, regulation and recovery after birth. You are welcome to bring your baby - please get in touch in advance to arrange this.

Saskia is absolutely amazing - I cannot recommend more strongly! She is incredibly supportive and empathetic, really listens to what you need, gives very straightforwards guidance how acupuncture can help and enables integration with traditional NHS support which I found so helpful.
