Sleep is a quiet and vital rhythm that we all need, restoring and renewing us. Yet, for many, this essential rest can feel elusive. Whether it’s the struggle to fall asleep, waking in the stillness of night, or rising before dawn with a restless mind, sleep often eludes those who need it most.
Most of us require 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, but the pressures of modern life, the weight of worry, and the subtle disruptions of our bodies can all conspire against it. Over time, this loss ripples through our wellbeing - dimming our focus, draining our energy, and reducing our resilience.
For those who wish to find rest without relying solely on medication, acupuncture offers a natural path. It invites the body to soften, the mind to quiet, and the Shen (spirit) to settle - guiding you back toward the deep, nourishing sleep.
What you might be experiencing
Difficulty drifting into sleep, even when you feel tired
Waking during the night, unable to find rest again
Restlessness, nightmares or a racing mind that won’t switch off
Feeling drained and unfocused during the day
Sleep disrupted by stress, anxiety, or hormonal changes
Physical discomfort or pain that interrupts your rest
How Acupuncture May Help
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), sleep is a reflection of balance between the body’s Qi - particularly the Heart, Liver, Spleen, and Kidney channels which govern not only rest but emotional calm and vitality. When these organs are out of harmony, the mind may race or the body may hold tension, making peaceful sleep elusive.
Acupuncture works to restore this balance, easing nervous system tension and encouraging your body’s natural ability to relax and rejuvenate. Many people describe feeling a deep sense of calm during treatment, and over time, improvements in falling asleep more easily, sleeping more soundly, and waking refreshed.
Modern research supports acupuncture’s role in reducing anxiety and promoting restful sleep, making it a gentle yet powerful companion on your path to better nights.
What a Treatment Plan Looks Like
Your First Appointment
Your first appointment is a detailed health consultation where we explore your sleep patterns, bedtime routines, stress levels, and health history. This allows me to understand the causes and create a personalised treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
A Personalised Treatment Plan
Treatments are usually weekly or fortnightly to begin with, depending on the nature and severity of your symptoms. Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes.
We will always have a chat at the start to understand where you are at that week.
Lifestyle & Wellbeing GuidancE
Alongside acupuncture, lifestyle and Yang Sheng (‘the nourishment of life’) advice is provided based on Chinese Medicine principles to support sleep naturally. This may include guidance on routines, nutrition, relaxation techniques, and creating a restful sleep environment. These habits complement treatment and help maintain long-term improvements in sleep quality.
Who This Approach Tends to Help
Acupuncture for sleep is especially beneficial for those who:
Struggle with persistent insomnia or difficulty falling asleep
Wake repeatedly through the night or find it hard to return to sleep
Experience sleep troubles related to stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
Face sleep disruptions due to hormonal shifts or physical pain
Seek a natural, gentle alternative or complement to medication
From My Perspective
Sleep is the quiet foundation of wellbeing, yet it can feel so elusive when life feels busy or stressful. I have had the privilege of supporting many people to find calm, ease, and deeper rest through acupuncture. My hope is to create a space where your body can soften, your mind can quieten, and your natural rhythms can gently reawaken - helping you wake more restored, day by day.
What people are saying
“Seeing Saskia for acupuncture was a wonderful, calming experience. She has a truly intuitive approach and made me feel comfortable and cared for every step of the way. Throughout my sessions with Saskia time was taken to offer thoughtful support and advice that I could apply to my day-to-day life to enhance my overall well-being. Treatments with Saskia became a little pocket of calm in often chaotic and emotionally heavy weeks. I am grateful for her holistic approach and care to create a safe space. I highly recommend her services to anyone seeking balance and healing.”
— Simone G“I can’t recommend Saskia enough. I attended several acupuncture appointments, and each time left feeling as though I’d had the reset I so desperately needed, whether it was physical or emotional.
She’s incredibly kind and caring in nature and I felt at ease at every appointment.”
— Jamie M“Saskia was great, she has a fantastic caring and healing nature. She made me feel completely at ease and took a generous amount of time getting to know me and understand what treatment would be the most suitable for my needs. I’m not great with needles but could not have been more relaxed and happier with my first experience of acupuncture. Definitely recommend.”

Some people notice a difference after a few sessions, often feeling more relaxed and calmer at bedtime. However, lasting improvements usually develop gradually over several weeks as the body rebalances and the nervous system learns to settle more easily.

Most people begin with weekly sessions, or sometimes fortnightly, depending on the severity and duration of their sleep issues. As your sleep improves, session frequency can be gradually reduced. The treatment plan is personalised, so adjustments are made according to your progress and how your body responds, ensuring optimal support throughout your journey to better rest.

Absolutely. Many sleep difficulties are linked to stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. Acupuncture can help calm the nervous system, release tension, and support emotional balance, which often improves the ability to fall asleep and stay asleep.
